Some of the first settlers of this family name or some of its variants were: Johann Nobes, who immigrated to Quebec in 1841; Barbara Nobis and Gertrud Nobis, who both arrived in Valdivia, Chile in 1851; Frederich Nobbe, who was naturalized in Illinois in 1852.
