Some of the first settlers of this family name or some of its variants were: Ana Sierra, who settled in Guatemala in 1568; Baltasar Sierra, who came to West Indies in 1517; Diego Sierra, who came to Peru in 1582; and Antonio De Sierra, his wife and two children, who settled in New Spain in 1569.
