Lewis, Samuel, A Topographical Dictionary of England. Institute of Historical Research, 1848, Print. Now part of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury, in Greater Manchester, Unsworth dates back to 1291 when it was first listed as Hundeswrth. By 1333, the place name was known as Undesworth.
