Many of those families went on to make significant contributions to the rapidly developing colonies in which they settled. Early North American records indicate many people bearing the name Hudnutt were among those contributors: Humphrey Hadnett settled in Virginia in 1635; Charles and James Hodnett arrived in Philadelphia in 1856; Francis Hadnett arrived in Boston in 1767; William Hadnett arrived in Philadelphia in 1864..
