Thuringia, which is located between Hessen and Lower Saxony in the west and Saxony in the east, is the noble birthplace of the name Baringhen. During the 2nd and 3rd centuries, this territory was a kingdom of the Germanic Hermunderen, but the Franks and the Saxons conquered the land in the mid-6th century. Thuringia was brought under the rule of Franconian counts by Charles Martel and Charlemagne founded the Thuringian Mark in 804 as a defensive region against the Slavs. Thuringia's history has been closely associated with Saxony's. In the late 15th century, Thuringia was divided in to four main principalities: Sachsen-Weimar, Sachsen-Altenburg, Sachsen-Coburg, and Sachsen-Meiningen. Thuringia remained a free state until it became a part of the German Empire in 1871.

Baringhen Early Origins

The surname Baringhen was first found in Thuringen, where the name Beringen was anciently associated with the tribal conflicts of the area. They declared allegiances to many nobles and princes of early history, lending their influence in struggles for power and status within the region. They branched into many houses, and their contributions were sought by various leaders in their search for power.
