Although the surname Anglime is a common English name, the surname itself is ultimately of Irish origin. It was derived from the Gaelic "O'hAnglninn," a patronymic surname meaning "son of Anglninn." This name is in turn thought to be derived from Gaelic word "anglonn," which means "hero" or "champion."

Anglime Early Origins

The surname Anglime was first found in County Cork (Irish: Corcaigh) the ancient Kingdom of Deis Muin (Desmond), located on the southwest coast of Ireland in the province of Munster, where records show them, beginning at the end of the 15th century.
