The family goes back to Jean, Sieur of Chaudenay, who married the daughter of Hugues de Mont-Saint-Jean in the year 1120. Several of his descendants have been noted because of their high positions in society. Jean II was the Sieur of Blaisy and died in 1310. Alexandre was an honored Knight of the Duke in 1322. Guy II was the Lord of Chaudenay and died in 1358. Jean III was a Knight in 1337. Another Guy was the Abbot of Tulley in the County of Bourgogne, and died in 1343. 1
