The roots of the Anglo-Saxon name Chadaway come from when the family resided in the region of Chitaway in Wiltshire. Some inhabitants of Chitaway adopted this area of location as a surname.
The surname Chadaway was first found in Wiltshire, where they have lived for many centuries. Bearers of the surname and branches of the family have since established themselves throughout England. During some of the major conflicts of times, they could be found in opposing camps, with conflicting interests.
