The ancestry of the name Batlin dates from the ancient Anglo-Saxon culture of Britain. The place-name is derived from the Old English personal name Bata, which was probably a nickname for a stout or burly man related to a word meaning cudgel, and the Old English word leah, meaning wood or clearing.
