The name Aspinil is part of the ancient legacy of the Anglo-Saxon tribes of Britain. It is a product of when the family lived in the settlement of Aspinwall, which was in the parish of Aughton in Lancashire county. The name Aspinwall literally means the aspen-well, referring to a well near a grove of aspen trees.
The surname Aspinil was first found in Lancashire where they held a family seat for many centuries, and where, at an early time, probably well before the Norman Conquest of England in 1066, they founded the town of Aspinall in that county.

Thousands of English families in this era began to emigrate the New World in search of land and freedom from religious and political persecution. Although the passage was expensive and the ships were dark, crowded, and unsafe, those who made the voyage safely were rewarded with opportunities unavailable to them in their homeland.
