The surname Whitcroft was first found in Yorkshire where Adam de Wetecroft was listed in the Pipe Rolls for 1191. Later, Richard de Whatecroft was found in the Subsidy Rolls for Suffolk in 1327. Thomas de Whatecroft son of Adam Whetecroft was listed in the Assize Rolls for Staffordshire in 1339. 4

The Hundredorum Rolls of 1273 include entries for Seman de Wetecroft and Matilda de Wetecroft, both in Suffolk. 1 The Testa de Nevill, sive Liber Feodorum, temp. Henry III-Edward I. lists Robert de Wetecroft, Lincolnshire, Henry III-Edward I. 5
