Research into the origins of individual families in North America revealed records of the immigration of a number of people bearing the name Uhls or a variant listed above: Frantz Uehle, who came to Philadelphia in 1754; Carl Uhl arrived in New York State in 1710-11; Dietrick Uhl arrived in Philadelphia in 1737; as well as Johann Peter Uhl in 1743.
