Tittershill is a name that was brought to England by the ancestors of the Tittershill family when they migrated to the region after the Norman Conquest in 1066. The fortress stood on a moor, and was surrounded by two fosses, which received the waters of the Bain; the principal part was demolished during the parliamentary war.
