Early Origins of the Strattherne family

One of the earliest records of the family was Malise Strathearn (fl. 1281-1315), who was "descended from a supposed Celtic family of whom Malise, Earl of Strathearn, was witness of the foundation of the priory of Scone in 1114. " 1

Many of these settlers stood up for their newfound freedom in the American War of Independence. More recently, Scots abroad have recovered much of their collective heritage through highland games and other patriotic functions and groups.
