Early Origins of the Shillicone family

The surname Shillicone was first found in Lancashire where one of the first records of the family was Adam de Skillingcorne c. 1350. Later William Skillecome was listed in Hampshire in 1458. [1]

The name is in many cases originally from the Isle of Man, where it "is most probably derived from a local name now for­gotten, beginning with the word skellig, 'rock.' We have Skellig and Cornaa separately among our local names, but not in combination." [2] [3]
