The family were well established in this region and several members of the family distinguished themselves through their contributions toward the community in which they lived. They were rewarded with lands, titles and letters patent confirming their nobility.

Jean Sirois, born in 1683, settled in Canada with his wife Marie-Angelique (née Dumontin), in the late 16th to early 17th century. They had one son, François, who married Marie-Anne Tiboutot at Rivière-Ouelle, Quebec on 28th November 1713. 1
