Early Origins of the Peddee family

The surname Peddee was first found in Perthshire where the surname is probably a variant of Peattie. The family were traditionally descended from Peada, King of Mercia, about the year 640.

"The surname also occurs frequently in Cromarty parish session records and is found in Angus in fifteenth century. Edward Pedy witnessed resignation of the bell of S, Meddan to Sir John Ogilvy in 1447" [1]
