The surname Fallowfield was first found in Lancashire at Fallowfield, in what is now a suburb of Manchester. Early records show the spelling Fallafeld in 1317 and this is perhaps the first occurrence of the name. Jordan de Fallafeld held some of the area in the 1300s and Thomas Ffallowfield was recorded in the Close Roll in 1406.
