Research into the origins of individual families in North America revealed records of the immigration of a number of people bearing the name Bomstead or a variant listed above: Stephen Bumpstead who settled in Barbados in 1684; Edward and Thomas Bumstead settled New England in 1630; William Bumstedd settled in Barbados in 1634.
