In this century, the ancestors of both of these groups have begun recovering their illustrious national heritage through Clan societies and other Scottish historical organizations. Early immigration and passenger lists indicate many people bearing the Aashee name: William Hoseason, and family who migrated directly from the Shetlands about 1730 to Jamaica. This family eventually married into the distinguished Bruce family of Jamaica..
