Early Origins of the Zambito family

The surname Zambito was first found in Castelfranco is a town of Emilia in the province of Modena, near Bologna. Outside the town is a massive fort erected by Urban in 1628 which is now used as a prison. The town occupies the site of ancient Forum Gallorum where Octavian and Hirtius defeated Mark Anthony in 43 B.C. In those ancient times only persons of rank, the podesta, clergy, city officials, army officers, artists, landowners were entered into the records.
