The hunting horn, or bugle was adopted as a symbol of the chase, it was the sign of a hunter and it generally indicated a man fond of high pursuits. The chase was considered the most noble of employments next to war. Musical instruments are heraldic symbols that, in general, signify festivity and rejoicing.
