Many of those families went on to make significant contributions to the rapidly developing colonies in which they settled. Early North American records indicate many people bearing the name Pie were among those contributors: John Pye, who settled in Virginia in 1649; Joseph Pye, who arrived in Virginia in 1652; Nicholas Pye, who came to Virginia in 1663; Elizabeth Pye, who arrived in Virginia in 1651.
