| Origin Displayed: Polish Spelling variations of this family name include: Tlapa, Tlocki, Tlocky, Talat, Zlocki, Zlocky, Szalapski, Szlapa and many more. First found in Polesie, the largest province of Poland. It is inhabited by Ruthenians, called Polesians, of Ukrainian descent. Some of the first settlers of this family name or some of its variants were: Anna Tlapa, who came to Chicago in 1874; Josef Tlapa, who arrived in Chicago in 1874; and Franz Tlapa, who immigrated to Baltimore in 1878.
