An examination of early immigration and passenger lists has revealed many people bearing the Ronay name: Charles, Hugh, James, John, Patrick, Thomas and William Roney all arrived in Philadelphia between 1840 and 1870; Anthony, Bernard, Denis, Edward, James, John, Michael, Patrick, Peter, Thomas and William Rooney all arrived in Philadelphia between 1840 and 1860..
