Many of those families went on to make significant contributions to the rapidly developing colonies in which they settled. Early North American records indicate many people bearing the name Mallary were among those contributors: Capt. Roger Mallory, (c.1637-c. 1696), English immigrant, holder of the 1660 patent on 2,514 acres in New Kent County, Virginia and direct paternal ancestor of thousands of Mallory descendants in North America.
