First found in County Tipperary, where in 1297, Gilbert de la Lounde was murdered by O'Mores. The name Lunde occurs in 1307, and in the early 14th century, Lundey was the name of a cottager in Tipperary. According to the Ormond Deeds, in 1533, John Boy Lundey, a 100 year old Tipperary man, gave evidence as a witness to a crime.
