Some of the first settlers of this family name or some of its variants were: Alvaro Botella, who arrived in Nicaragua in 1561; Francisco Botello, who emigrated to Puerto Rico and Alonso Botello who came to Florida in 1538. Later settlers included Jose Botella Sales, who arrived in Puerto Rico in 1860 and, Nareisco Botello, who was naturalized in California in 1873..
