The surname Berlin was first found in Norfolk where the family name was first referenced in the 13th century when Sir John Burgelun held estates in that shire in 1243. William Burgelun was listed in Norfolk in 1275 and John Burgoillioun was found in the Subsidy Rolls for Suffolk in 1327. 1

William de Burgiloun, 41 Henry III; and Richard de Burguillon, 16 Henry III were both recorded in Norfolk. 2 The Hundredorum Rolls of 1273 included entries for Hugo Burgifrun, Huntingdonshire; William Burgellyn, Norfolk; and William de Burgulioun, Lincolnshire. 3
