Sponheim Castle is a medieval ruin in Burgsponheim on the edge of the Hunsrück mountain range in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany and was the ancestral home of the Counts of Sponheim, a medieval German noble family, which originated in Rhenish Franconia.
