Some of the first settlers of this family name or some of its variants were: Jean Sicard who arrived in Quebec in 1685 from Languedoc; Jean Sicard arrived in Quebec in 1681 from Saintonge near Bordeaux, although this is more likely to be the port of departure, rather than his home province.
