Early Origins of the Griswold family

The surname Griswold was first found in Warwickshire at Griswold's Farm in Snitterfield. The first record of the family was found here in the Assize Rolls of 1381, namely Roger Grysewold. Later Thomas Greswold was listed in the Feet of Fines for 1418-1419. Over in Berkshire, Thomas Gresewold was recorded there in 1412. 1
