Where did the English Crome family come from? What is the English Crome family crest and coat of arms? When did the Crome family first arrive in the United States? Where did the various branches of the family go? What is the Crome family history?

The Crome surname is thought to be derived from the Old English word "crumb," which meant "bent" or "crooked." The name may have been a nickname for a crippled person, or it may have been an occupational name for a maker or seller of hooks. There are also several place names in Britain, such as Croom, East Yorkshire and Croome, Worcestershire from which surnames may have evolved.

First found in Herefordshire where they held a family seat as Lords of the Manor. The Saxon influence of English history diminished after the Battle of Hastings in 1066. But Saxon surnames survived and the family name was first referenced in the year 13th century when they held estates in that shire.
